With so much information on Corona-Virus being circulated through social media, it has become extremely difficult to figure the validity of the information. What is right, Which information is correct, what is the reality?  Everyone is giving their own expert advice on fighting this devil making us all clueless on the real facts. Don’t worry, during the article, we will burst all the myths about Coronavirus and give you a reality check.

MYTHS ABOUT CORONAVIRUS VS REALITY ABOUT CORONAVIRUS

Myth No.1: As the summers are approaching, the hot temperature will kill the Coronavirus. 

Reality: From the evidence that the scientists have so far, the novel Coronavirus can be transmitted in any weather conditions. Hence, the areas with hot and humid conditions are no exception. This is one of the biggest myths about Coronavirus. 

Myth No.2: If I will take a hot bath every day, I will not get Coronavirus

Reality: Taking a hot bath will not prevent you from catching COVID-19. Your normal body temperature remains around 36.5°C to 37°C, regardless of the temperature of your bath or shower.

Myth No.3: I will get Coronavirus through a mosquito bite.

Reality: There is no evidence on the virus being transmitted through mosquitoes. Moreover, it is a respiratory virus that spreads through droplets of an infected person. 

Myth No. 4: Spraying Alchohol/Chlorine on the body can kill Coronavirus. 

Spraying alcohol or chlorine can be extremely dangerous for mucous membranes (eyes, nose). Also, it will not kill any viruses that have already entered your body. Although they can be useful to disinfect surfaces, they need to be used under appropriate recommendations.

Myth No.5: Eating garlic will prevent the spreading of Coronavirus. 

Reality: Garlic no doubt is a superfood that may have antimicrobial properties. However, there is no evidence of it to protecting people from the new coronavirus. Although, you can keep taking it to boost your immunity system. 

Myth No.6: The Novel Coronavirus is only affecting old people. 

Reality: With the recent death of a 38-year old man, it has been made clear that people of all age groups are vulnerable to the virus. It is just that old people and people with pre-existing medical conditions are more prone to becoming extremely ill if infected. 

Myth No.7: If a person in our society catches Coronavirus, it will infect us too. 

Reality: AIIMS director Mr Guleria said you cannot catch the virus until and unless you are in contact with the infected person. There is no possibility of catching the virus even if it is near your residential area.

In short, it is a virus that is not temperature-dependent, cannot spread through a mosquito bite, it cannot be prevented through superfoods, affects people of all ages and can only be transferred from infected person’s contact.
