One rejection and we give up! One tough situation is strong enough to shake us from the roots and we give up. We blame the situation for our failure, and we believe the success is only for the ones born with a silver spoon and is served on a platter for them. The man behind the famous fried chicken – He perfected his secret recipe for over 10 years and was rejected more than 1000 times!! Yes, you read it right- 1000 Times! He achieved success at the age of 65.
With more than 1,80,000 outlets in over 100 countries, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is one of the most popular and loved fast food joint in the world.
Story Number 2: J.K Rowling
She had a divorce with no money left to take care of her daughter in the early 90s. The first agent she contacted bluntly said: “My list is full”. After that, the queen of rejections was again rejected by 12 publishers, before a small London publisher gave her a chance.
Today, Harry Potter is among the top bestsellers in the history of literature & Rowling is Europe’s one of the richest persons.
Story 3: Amitabh Bachchan
This man needs no introduction today, but very few people would have an idea about his struggling days and how he has attained such a high position.
He was rejected by All India Radio, even before he tried his luck in Bollywood. Even few filmmakers had a problem with his height and considered him as “thin and unattractive”. He had more than 12 flop movies, before his first blockbuster – Zanjeer! When he tried his hands in production (ABCL), Miss World 1996 almost made him bankrupt. Though he never gave up and today he is the Shehanshah of Bollywood!
Story 4: Walt Disney
Who has spent their childhood without watching the iconic Mikey Mouse? We all had Disney toys when we were young. Can you imagine the creator of the “Disney World” was fired for not being creative enough?
After being fired, he started creating characters and the rest is history. He won 26 awards and is the most nominated person the most in the history of Oscar with 59 nominations.
Story 5: Karsanbhai Patel
Not so popular name, but you can recognize this man by the brand “NIRMA”. Graduate in Chemistry, he used to sell homemade detergent at 3 Rs/ Kg on his way home after his office. It was a big challenge as he faced competition from big brands like Hindustan Unilever but never gave up. He left his job and opened a small shop which was a big hit. He invested all his money in an advertisement which ran on Tv for a month- “Sabki Pasand Nirma” and we still remember the lyrics.
Today Nirma’s turnover is approximately $10+ billion (USD) per year with 18,000 employees.
